You cannot miss it !

You cannot fail to notice the 2,000 year-old forest that stretches from the Dune du Pilat to Lac de Cazaux, where it merges with the Landes de Gascogne forest.

The forest has a special legal status, whose history is closely linked with that of the Captalcy of Buch, the medieval lords who granted rights of use to the population that exist to the present day.

For centuries, the local inhabitants were famous for their expertise in gathering resin, pitch and pine tar. The 3,650 hectare listed forest is 80% privately-owned. Plant and animal life are protected there.
